Description

Levenhuk Rainbow 50L PLUS Microscope would make a wonderful gift for an inquisitive teenager, biology student, or a laboratory technician. The maximum magnification power of this instrument is 1280x – just enough to see all the tiniest details of observed microscope samples. The model features a reliable, robust body – Rainbow 50L PLUS Microscope can be used as an instrument at home, as well as for laboratory work in schools and universities.

Quality optics
Three objectives allow you to obtain 64x, 160x, and 640x magnification. 40xs objective lens has a special spring-loaded mechanism. While focusing, you may accidently touch the observed sample with the objective lens. But the spring-loaded lens will retract a little, preventing any possible damage. The kit also includes 2x Barlow lens, which doubles the magnification of any given objective lens. The basic kit allows you to achieve 1280x magnification power!

The lenses are made of high-quality optical glass coated with special anti-reflective coating. The produced images will always be sharp, contrast, and crystal-clear.

Universal LED illumination system
The microscope is equipped with two bright LED illumination sources. To observe transparent samples such as thin plant cuts or tiny crustaceans, use lower illumination. Upper illumination is used for opaque objects – paper fiber, coins, and many other interesting things. Semi-transparent objects are better seen when you use both upper and lower illumination. The adjustable brightness allows you to choose the optimal amount of light for each sample.

Ergonomic body
The microscope is distinguished by its modern ergonomic design. The reliable metal body of the microscope ensures its long service life. The 45-degrees inclined monocular head allows for the most convenient observing position and prevents fatigue, even after long hours of work. Moreover, the head rotates 360 degrees around its axis, which is really convenient for group work.

Illumination can be powered by AC power, as well as by batteries in case you want to do your research outside.

Caution: Please refer to the specifications table for the correct mains voltage and never attempt to plug a 110V device into 220V outlet and vice versa without using a converter. Remember that mains voltage in the U.S. and Canada is 110V and 220–240V in most European countries.

Levenhuk Rainbow 50L Microscope will be preferable as it has higher magnification and also a quality storage case included. Both microscopes allow you to observe thin cuts, prepared slides, protozoa, and some unmoving blood cells. 50L model will give you a larger, more detailed view. There’s no difference in observations of opaque samples, as biological microscopes allow such observations only at the minimum magnification power.

Good day! Bought here a microscope (rainbow 50l plus), everything’s good, but I cannot understand how to obtain 1280x. What we have here: 16x eyepiece and 4x, 10x, 40xs objectives. That gives us a few available magnifications: 16x4=64, 16x10=160, 16x40=640. Looks like 640x is the highest one that the model can provide.

Hello Kenn, thank you for interest in Levenhuk products. The lenses are not tinted. The microscope comes with a 110 V/50 Hz power supply. So it can be used in the USA only with the adapter. But you can also use it in Thailand with batteries that come in a kit. Is there any additional information you might need?

Hello! We bought this microscope a few days ago and craved to see many interesting things, but… we couldn’t see anything in the 40x objective lens. We tried to observe honey, blood, dust, bread, mold. 4x and 10x objective work just fine. We moved Barlow lens, stage, illumination – nothing. What did we do wrong?

Due to the objective’s large magnification, it is hard to place samples directly under it. Therefore, you need to find your sample in the lowest magnification objective (for example, 4x), then switch objectives consistently from low to the highest one (40x).

How can I make a "hanging drop" to observe the bacteria in the water?

Customer service:

Hanging drop is a method of microscopy involving studying living bacteria under physiological growth conditions; it allows you to observe the object for a long time. To prepare a hanging drop you need to take the cover glass with tweezers, put it in the fire and cool down. Then weigh a drop of the sample in an isotonic solution of sodium chloride and apply to the center of the glass. Then the cover glass is rapidly turned downward and placed on a sterile slide glass; the edges of the well that is polished in the middle of the glass are pre-lubricated with petroleum jelly. Then you put a slide glass on the coverslip and flip them: the drop is hanging in a hermetically sealed space (see the picture). Find the drop at a low magnification and narrowed diaphragm and then study the sample at a higher magnification. Use a melted and cooled to t ° 45 ° agar instead of an isotonic sodium chloride solution in order to limit the mobility of the microorganisms.
