Foldable magnifying glass – a compact optical device to solve simple tasks

Such magnifiers also provide a high quality image, but they are much lighter and also cheaper. If the lighting is low, it is better to use a foldable magnifying glass with light. We also recommend paying attention to magnifiers designed with an aplanatic lens system. That provides a wider field of view compared to analogues and higher clarity at the edges of the image regardless of magnification. An aplanatic lens system comprises two flat-concave lenses turned towards each other with convex sides. Such lens arrangement corrects spherical and comatic aberrations.

A portable folding magnifier: important features

When you select a pocket magnifier, pay attention to another two important parameters: a housing and a folding structure type. A housing may be plastic or metal. Naturally, a metal portable magnifier will be more reliable and durable than a plastic one, but the plastic one is lighter. These magnifiers may also fold in a different manner. In some models a magnifier hides inside a housing, and in other ones, it is only a handle that folds, and the lens remains exposed. In the second case, it is preferred if a portable folding magnifier is complete with a jacket, better with a hard one. An unprotected lens would quickly be covered in scratches and dust.
