what kind of material is used for the microscope body? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Levenhuk D320L 3.1M Digital Monocular Microscope is made of metal.
Does it provide for observing a fly or lets say a grasshopper? Implying that I manage to arrange top illumination. In order to kill two birds with one stone, I don't really want to buy two microscopes. Levenhuk Customer Service:
The Levenhuk D320L microscope is equipped with lower illumination which provides for observing transparent samples only.
Hi! Could you please tell me one thing... does the camera work when I do not run its software on PC? Levenhuk Customer Service:
The Levenhuk D320L camera only works when the software's running.
Hello! I'm considering two models: Levenhuk D50L NG and D320L. So I have a few questions about their technical characteristics. The microscope stage must (it is really important!) move along both the x and y axes. Does it? I want images to be continuously transferred to my PC, and I'm gonna capture them with my PC, rather than with camera. Is it so? I also have questions about cameras. Are they included in the package at the specified price? And one last question about their magnification. For example, 4x objective + 10x eyepiece = 40x (minimum magnification); 100x objective + 16x eyepiece = 1600x (maximum magnification). As camera is installed in the eyepiece tube, magnification range will be from 4x to 100x? Am I right? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Only one of these two models, Levenhuk D320L, is equipped with a stage that moves along both the X and Y axes. Levenhuk D50L NG has 2 Mpx camera, and D320L - 3 Mpx one. Camera displays images on a PC monitor; it is controlled from the computer (using special software). Yes, cameras are included in the kit with these microscope models. For the Levenhuk D320 model the minimum magnification will be 40x and maximum - 1000x.
Is this microscope capable of seeing viruses and bacteria of 10 to 500 nm in size? Is it even possible to observe viruses with it? Thank you. Levenhuk Customer Service:
You can study bacteria with Levenhuk D320L, but staining is required. There are 3 or 4 viruses, which can be observed using regular microscopes (Levenhuk D320L including), but the rest 99.9% of viruses can be observed with electron microscopes only.
Hello! Manufacturers that produce objective lenses usually specify barrel diameter (for example 20 mm) and working distance (for example 45 mm). Which objectives are suitable for this microscope? now the microscope is equipped with objective lens with 33mm working distance, but I can replace it with 45 mm, right? Levenhuk Customer Service:
You can only install objectives with 33 mm working distance on this microscope model. The barrel diameter is 20 millimeters.
what languages does the software support? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Levenhuk ToupView software for Windows supports eight languages: English, French, German, Polish, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Turkish.
Greetings! The digital camera should be installed on the microscope eyepiece or instead of it? If the eyepiece is not used, then optical magnification will be less than 1600x, right? I'd like to know what the optical magnification will be in this case? Levenhuk Customer Service:
The digital camera should be inserted in place of the eyepiece. The camera provides 10x magnification. The maximum magnification you can obtain with the camera is 1000x.
The specifications table says that there's ability to record videos. But in the comments online I've read that there's no such possibility, that the camera can only make photos... Where's the truth? Levenhuk Customer Service:
In its current configuration Levenhuk D320L Digital Biological Microscope is equipped with a camera with the ability to record videos.
Is the camera compatible with Linux (Debian 7)? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Yes, the camera of the Levenhuk D320L microscope is compatible with your Linux distribution.
Hello, Levenhuk! Do you have digital cameras suitable for this model that could replace 16x or 20x eyepiece? Maybe there are other ways to obtain more than 1000x magnification on PC screen? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Levenhuk D320L Digital Biological Microscope used with digital camera from the kit provides magnification of up to 1000x. Unfortunately there is no possibility to obtain higher increase with this microscope model.
Does microscope camera require any special software? Will it work with Mac? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Yes, the software is included in the kit with the Levenhuk D320L microscope. Yes, it's compatible with Mac.
If I understand correctly, the inability of observing opaque samples is explained by the absence of top illumination? ie if I can arrange upper lighting this problem will be solved? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Yes, that's right. It's also worth noting that biological microscopes have small working distance which does not allow observing large objects.
I'm choosing between d320l and d70l. Specifications on the website are quite different. So what are the differences between these products except the kit? Levenhuk Customer Service:
The most significant difference between these models is that Levenhuk D70L has LCD display. It also gives you an ability to observe opaque samples, has optical increase of 40x-400x, while digital zoom allows you to achieve magnification up to 1600x. On the other hand the Levenhuk D320L model has optical increase up to 1600x.
If I illuminate a sample by myself from the top, will I be able to observe opaque objects. Levenhuk Customer Service:
Yes, it's possible.
Do I understand it correctly, that I can use camera only when magnification is less than 10x. Under higher increase I can only observe, but not shoot? Levenhuk Customer Service:
No, you get it wrong: the camera itself produces magnification as a 10x eyepiece. That means that with the camera you will get resulting magnification of up to 1000x.
Hello! I have 3 questions about D320L: 1) does the eyepiece have reticles? 2) is it possible to observe opaque objects? If not, is there a possibility to equip it with a top light? 3) in general we need a microscope for: - taking images with resolution of up to 1 micron - saving images in bmp or jpg - measuring samples and detecting inhomogeneities. So we need the following: 1. the ability to observe in reflected light and top illumination 2. 40-100x objective lens 3. eyepiece with scale or grid reticles 4. moving stage 5. USB digital camera and software. The budget is around $300-$500. Is D320L suitable? If not, please suggest another model Levenhuk Customer Service:
1) Eyepiece doesn't have any reticles 2) Levenhuk D320L Digital Biological Microscope is designed to observe in transmitted light, retractable top lights are currently unavailable in our store 3) Unfortunately currently we don't have a model that would meet all your requirements.
Tell me if I understand it correctly: with lower illumination I will be able to see only transparent objects? And in order to see opaque objects as well I have to purchase a microscope with combined light source location? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Yes, that's right. Levenhuk D320L Digital Biological Microscope has only lower illumination. To observe opaque objects you will need upper lighting. We recommend you consider Levenhuk D70L Digital Biological Microscope - https://www.levenhuk.com/products/levenhuk_microscope_d70l/.
How does it differ from Levenhuk 320? (the one without a camera) And can I use more powerful cameras instead of these? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Levenhuk D320L Digital Biological Microscope (unlike Levenhuk 320 model) comes with a digital camera in the kit. Using other cameras (not special cameras for microscopes) is not possible.
Hi! Is it possible that you could replace WF16x eyepiece with WF20х? With 20x eyepiece the image quality will be the same as 670 model provides? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Unfortunately, it is not possible. You can purchase 20x eyepiece separately, magnification will be 2000x.
so which model is suitable for hemoscanning then? Levenhuk Customer Service:
For proper haemoscanning you will need at least Levenhuk D870T Digital Trinocular Microscope - https://www.levenhuk.com/products/levenhuk-d870t-trinocular-microscope/
I'm not sure whether the model is suitable for hemoscanning… tell me please Levenhuk Customer Service:
Levenhuk D320L Digital Biological Microscope does not allow conducting researches in the dark field, so you won't be able to use it for hemoscanning.
Digital camera temperature range is -22... 158 degrees F, what about the microscope itself? Does it withstand 5 to 77 degrees? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Yes, the Levenhuk D320L model works all right in this range of temperatures.
Hello! Can this model be used as regular 320, without digital camera? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Yes, without a digital camera the Levenhuk D320L model is a fully functional optical microscope.
I want to equip this microscope with dark-field condenser. Is it possible? Where to buy? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Dark field condenser for this model is not available. Consider models with built-in dark-field condenser: Levenhuk 850B Biological Binocular Microscope https://www.levenhuk.com/products/microscope_levenhuk_850b/, Levenhuk 870T Biological Trinocular Microscope https://www.levenhuk.com/products/microscope_levenhuk_870t/
This one is 40-1600x as well? Illumination is not a problem, I can even make LED illumination myself Levenhuk Customer Service:
Yes, it's correct, the Levenhuk D320L model provides magnification of 40-1600x.
So you want to tell me that https://www.levenhuk.com/products/levenhuk_microscope_d2lng/, which specifications are less impressive, is able to show water crystal and this one, which is a very powerful model, can't? But why? I don't understand. Which parameter defines this? If I buy D2L NG I will get worse camera and lower magnification. Are you sure this microscope isn't suitable for me? I like it better than D2L NG Levenhuk Customer Service:
Water crystals are usually observed at 400x magnification. For your purpose you need a microscope with upper illumination for observing in reflected light.
Thank you for answering! Will this microscope manage to do the job (observing water crystals) or only Levenhuk D2L NG can do that? Levenhuk Customer Service:
The Levenhuk D320L model is not intended for researches of this kind.
I've seen microphotos of water crystals online (it's like stars, snowflakes), can I take such pictures with this microscope? What kind of microscope do I need for this purpose? Levenhuk Customer Service:
This model https://www.levenhuk.com/products/levenhuk_microscope_d2lng/ will serve better for your purpose.
how is this microscope packed, is it allowed to transport it? Levenhuk Customer Service:
It's packed in the cardboard box. Yes, you can transport it.
I am trying to connect digital camera to PC. Operating system is Windows XP. I open the ToupView application but it doesn't show anything, only black field. Maybe I could use another software or does this software require any special settings? Levenhuk Customer Service:
You need to configure the software properly, please contact Customer Service Department for details.
Does the base get highly heated while working? Is it OK? Levenhuk Customer Service:
During lengthy observations a little heat is acceptable.
Is it possible to work with this microscope only looking at the PC screen, and not looking through the eyepiece? I mean for cells calculation, studying skin scrapes, microscopic sediment examination, etc. Levenhuk Customer Service:
Yes, the Levenhuk D320L model comes with a digital camera eyepiece which allows for transferring images to PC.

can I use this microscope for metallographic research? is it compatible with windows 7? Levenhuk Customer Service:
No, the Levenhuk D320L model can't be used for metallography, it's a biological microscope. It is compatible with Windows 7.
It's said that camera should be installed instead of an eyepiece. Does it mean that microscope looses 10x and 16x magnification? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Camera gives the same magnification as 10x eyepiece.
Is it possible to integrate video in Windows 7, if so, where can I find drivers? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Digital camera that comes with the Levenhuk D320L model takes quality pictures, but doesn't record video.
will I be able to connect this microscope to my notebook? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Of course, for connection with PC or notebook you will need a USB cable that is included in the kit.
is it possible to equip this microscope with even more powerful eyepieces or objective lenses. how can I get higher magnification? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Using accessories that are already included in the kit (eyepieces WF 10x; WF 16x; Objectives 4x, 10x, 40x, 100x Oil) you can reach a 1600x increase. Magnification higher than 1600x is not possible for the Levenhuk D320L model.
