Is your kid fond of the microcosm? Or maybe his or her hobby is collecting things? Has a strong intention to become a biologist or doctor? Then Levenhuk Rainbow 2L PLUS Azure Microscope would be a wonderful gift for your child! This microscope will teach your kid to work with different kinds of specimens and discover so many new things! Moreover, the microscope has a very attractive colorful design – it will look really great on your child’s desktop.

    Excellent optics
Levenhuk Rainbow 2L PLUS biological microscopes are made of only the highest quality materials. The lenses are made of a special optical glass of high transparency. For better light transmission, the optical surfaces are coated with multiple layers of anti-reflective coating, which increases sharpness and contrast of produced images.
The kit includes three objective lenses producing 64x, 160x, and 640x magnification. The most powerful objective lens (40xs) has a special spring-loaded mechanism for optics safety.

    Combined illumination
One more advantage of the model – the microscope is equipped with two LED illuminations. Lower illumination is used for viewing transparent samples, such as liquids or thin sections of plant and animal tissue. Upper illumination allows for observing opaque objects – paper, minerals, cloth, and metal. If you turn both illuminations on at once, you can observe semi-transparent objects. You can also adjust brightness for a better view.

    Durable and convenient body
The reliable body is made of metal – it can easily withstand frequent use and serve you for years to come. For more convenience, the monocular head is inclined at an angle of 45 degrees. Moreover, it can be rotated 360 degrees – and that is very convenient for working in a group; you can just rotate the head itself without moving the microscope.
This instrument can be used indoors and outdoors – the microscope can be powered by an outlet or batteries.

Caution: Please refer to the specifications table for the correct mains voltage and never attempt to plug a 110V device into 220V outlet and vice versa without using a converter. Remember that mains voltage in the U.S. and Canada is 110V and 220-240V in most European countries.

    Experiment kit
The package includes Levenhuk K50 Experiment Kit. It contains everything needed for your first experiments: ready-to-use microscope slides, special tools for making your own, and a very useful user guide with information about the microscope, recommendations for its use, and experiment descriptions.

Which coloring should I use so it won't kill the microorganisms? Levenhuk Customer Service:
You can use food colourings for tinting samples.

    Karen Williams (2017-06-06 02:44): Positive
I observed tap water in the microscope and saw rod-shaped microorganisms, but iodine killed them. Is that possible? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Yes, Iodine disinfects the water from microorganisms.

    Nancy Cook (2017-06-05 06:11): Positive
Did you forget to mention that it is necessary to tint the water? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Yes, you need to tint the water.

    Barbara Campbell (2017-06-05 04:56): Positive
Could you tell me please, in steps, how I can observe microorganisms in the water? Levenhuk Customer Service:
    1. Make sure that your slide is skimmed and clean. 2. Add 1-2 drops of water to the slide 3. Carefully place the sample on the slide 4. Carefully cover the drop with the sample with the cover slip. If the water spills beyond the glass, carefully remove it with filtered paper.

    Robert Wood (2017-06-02 08:15): Positive
Can I attach a digital eyepiece to this microscope? Which one? Levenhuk Customer Service:
You can use any camera with a landing diameter of 23.2 mm for the Levenhuk Rainbow 2L PLUS Moonstone microscope. https://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/accessories/microscope-cameras/ There is a Levenhuk Rainbow D2L 0,3 megapixels Moonstone microscope https://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/microscopes/levenhuk-d2l/. I am trying to choose a microscope for a 7 y.o. child, which one is better? 2L plus or 50L? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Levenhuk Rainbow 50L PLUS will be the best choice due to its greater magnification capacity

    Sean Palmer (2017-01-30 09:52): Positive
How to properly use the disk with diaphragms integrated in the stage of the device? What position is considered standard (from which position of the disk should I start my observations) and what visible changes should I notice? Levenhuk Customer Service:
The diaphragm is a disk located beneath a high-powered microscope's stage, usually having five holes of different diameters. When turning the disk, the amount of light passing through the hole in the stage is changed - it helps to correctly illuminate different samples, increase their contrast and resolution. The largest aperture is standard.

    Sean Palmer (2017-01-27 12:45): Positive
Is it possible to replace the bright field condenser with the dark field one? If this model doesn’t allows this, them which inexpensive models do? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Inexpensive models do not allow this. Levenhuk 320 Biological Microscope (https://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/microscopes/levenhuk-320/) does.

    Harry Bowen (2017-01-16 12:13): Positive
Thanks for the answer! Another question: do lenses with higher magnification exist, and which ones will fit? What is the objective's thread diameter? Thank you! Levenhuk Customer Service:
There are no objectives for the Levenhuk Rainbow 2L PLUS Microscope in our range of products.

    Harry Bowen (2017-01-15 07:10): Positive
Hello! Is it possible to buy additional accessories to increase the microscope's magnification? Levenhuk Customer Service:
For the Levenhuk Rainbow 2L PLUS microscope, you can purchase a 20x eyepiece, which will give you 800x magnification. Pay attention to the fact that this can be detrimental to the quality of the image!

Jim and Gill (2016-11-09 08:36): Positive
Good time of day! We are looking for a family microscope, we have 7 yo kid. We take microscope as a mean of self-education and learning. Does it make sense to pay more for the 2L PLUS model? I mean as far as I know you can see a lot of interesting stuff under 400x, why pay extra? Maybe 2L PLUS with its 640x magnification is capable of something more? I heard somewhere that with high magnification images loose their 'volume'. Please help us decide on the right model. Thank you Levenhuk Customer Service:
Levenhuk Rainbow 2L PLUS does not loose in image quality while having higher magnification. Another advantage the PLUS model is a body made of metal.

    Elaine Bird (2016-10-30 11:57): Positive
Is this microscope suitable for a kid 11 yo? Is it suitable for observing red blood cells? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Yes, Levenhuk Rainbow 2L PLUS Moonstone is a perfect choice for a 11 years old child. Yes, this model allows for observations of red blood cells, but not their movement. In order to see the movement of red blood cells you will need a more powerful model, for example Levenhuk 320 Biological Microscope (https://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/microscopes/levenhuk-320/).

    Guy Coleman (2016-10-25 01:29): Positive

    Carroll Good (2016-10-17 07:55): Positive
is their any difference between stage moving mechanisms in plastic and metal models? What eyepieces would you recommend for this model? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Levenhuk Rainbow 2L PLUS and Levenhuk Rainbow 2L metal and plastic microscopes have identical stage moving mechanisms. You can buy any eyepieces with 23.2mm barrel diameter. We recommend eyepieces with magnification power no more than 16x.

    Mathew Reed (2016-10-17 06:29): Positive
