Levenhuk Rainbow Series

  • Two built-in LED illuminations allow observing non-transparent objects in transmitted and reflected light.
  • Reliable performance: body and elements are all-metal (silumin), not plastic.
  • High image quality: eyepieces, objectives and all other optical elements are multi-coated and highly transparent.
  • Focusing mechanism and stage move smoothly, without jerks or backlash.

Magnification up to 640x
Microscope magnification depends on the objective lens and eyepiece lens magnifications. Eyepiece is the upper part of the tube of the microscope that you look into. Objective is located below; and creates the image you see in the eyepiece. One WF16x eyepiece and three objectives (4x, 10x and 40x) are included in the package.

Observing non-transparent objects
The Levenhuk 2L NG Microscope, unlike other teaching microscopes, is equipped with two built-in illuminations. Both illuminations are LED, which ensures minimal energy consumption while providing sufficient light. Illumination systems are located above and below the stage, and allow observing both transparent and opaque objects: from tiny solid particles to coins, paper, fabrics, etc.

Power supply
The microscope features an AC adapter, for stationary observations without batteries.

Caution: Please refer to the specifications table for the correct mains voltage and never attempt to plug a 110V device into 220V outlet and vice versa without using a converter. Remember that mains voltage in the U.S. and Canada is 110V and 220-240V in most European countries.

The kit includes:

  • Microscope
  • Objectives: 4x, 10x and 40x
  • Eyepiece: WF16x
  • Stage with clips
  • Diaphragm disk
  • Built-in upper and lower LED illuminations
  • AC adapter
  • 3 AA batteries
  • User manual and lifetime warranty

Debbie Penrod (2016-06-10 06:39): Positive
will this microscope allow me to see canine semen Levenhuk Customer Service:
Dear Debbie, thank you for interest in Levenhuk products. For your purposes, we'd recommend consider buying the Levenhuk 320 Biological Microscope. Is there any additional information you might need?

Troy Boyd (2016-03-17 06:46): Positive
I need a microscope that allows for observations in reflected light (to observe a leaf, for example), as well as in transmitted light at high magnification (to examine blood cells, observe bacteria). Could you please advise me some? Levenhuk Customer Service:
To observe bacteria, you will need a powerful microscope with 1100-1200x magnification power. You'll also need to stain samples with a special dye. For this purpose we recommend that you consider Levenhuk 320 Biological Microscope - https://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/microscopes/levenhuk-320/. Please note that the microscope is equipped with lower illumination only. We also recommend Levenhuk Rainbow 2L PLUS model - https://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/microscopes/levenhuk-2l-plus-moonstone/ for observations of opaque and transparent objects.

Kim (2016-01-14 02:34): Positive

bought this microscope approx a year and a half ago, have been using it with pleasure during this time. Everything is just great! But I want to achieve its maximum efficiency by adding more powerful accessories. I want to buy some new objectives: 60x/0.85 160/0.17 (M1) or 100x/1.25 160/0.17 (M1). Are they suitable for this microscope? Their parfocal distance is 45 mm (DIN standard). tHANKS. Levenhuk Customer Service:
Unfortunately, there are no suitable objectives for the Levenhuk 2L NG microscope model in our product range.

Max Harper (2014-12-21 01:25): Positive
Is it possible to increase magnification with this model? Wouldn't it affect image quality? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Your can get higher magnification with Levenhuk 2L NG Microscope if you install a more powerful eyepiece (for example https://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/accessories/levenhuk-20x-eyepiece/), but this will lead to significant decrease in image quality.

Thomas Young (2014-10-18 10:53): Positive

Amy Green (2014-06-11 10:17): Positive
is it possible to see germs on your fingers? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Bacteria can not be seen with amateur microscopes, since most of bacteria are very small, and they can be observed only under 1200x increase (at least) and the sample should be stained. Thus professional microscopes and special sample preparation techniques are necessary to observe bacteria.

Flo (2014-06-11 11:22): Positive
What can be seen through this microscope??? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Levenhuk 2L NG allows you to study insects, microorganisms and cell structure.

Tell me please... I really like Levenhuk 2L NG microscope, but I have a question: can I see bacteria and cells with it? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Cell structure can be seen through the Levenhuk 2L NG microscope, but, as for bacteria - they can't be observed using amateur microscopes since almost all bacteria are very tiny and can be seen only under the magnification of at least 2000x and samples must be stained. So you will need a professional (not amateur) microscope and special methods of sample preparation. Take a look at Levenhuk 850B Biological Binocular Microscope - https://www.levenhuk.com/products/microscope_levenhuk_850b/

David Marshall (2014-01-27 05:36): Positive

For example, Levenhuk D2L NG Digital Microscope: https://www.levenhuk.com/products/levenhuk_microscope_d2lng/. You can find other digital models here: https://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/microscopes-type-digital-items/

Also you can see pictures provided by Levenhuk 50 L NG Microscope here: https://www.levenhuk.com/articles/experiment_slides/

Peter Havens (2013-03-01 10:03): Positive
Tell me please objective lenses of what brands I can buy for this model? I need more powerful objectives around 60x, 100x. Will micromed work? I have Levenhuk 20x eyepiece, increases magnification just fine. So is it possible to upgrade objective lens? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Installing more powerful objective lenses is not applicable since it would require rebuilding of the whole construction, illumination system and stage especially.

Jayne koehl (2013-02-09 10:02): Positive

Unfortunately, the Barlow lens you need is currently unavailable in our store.
