Hello, I am choosing binoculars and I want something lightweight and simple. I have tried my friend's binoculars, there were some yellow halo around objects. Is it always like that? I like this model, I hope it doesn't have this halo? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Appearance of halo depends on optics quality. Unfortunately, this model has been discontinued, please consider new Levenhuk binoculars: Levenhuk Atom 10x50 Binoculars - http://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/binoculars/levenhuk-atom-10x50/ and Levenhuk Atom 20x50 Binoculars - http://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/binoculars/levenhuk-atom-20x50/.

When choosing a pair of binoculars for terrestrial and basic astronomy observations, how would you arrange these technical characteristics according to their relevance: objective lens diameter, magnification, optics quality (BK7 or BaK-4), and zoom. I'm thinking about buying Levenhuk Bino PLUS 12x50, but want to weigh all pros and cons to be sure. Levenhuk Customer Service:
The most significant characteristics are: objective lens diameter, optics material (BaK-4 is optimal) and magnification. Levenhuk Bino PLUS 12x50 model is great for your purposes.

What does relative brightness (and its efficiency in the twilight) mean? Does 12x50 or 16x50 have better image quality if their relative brightness is 17 vs 9.8? Levenhuk Customer Service:
Levenhuk Bino PLUS 12x50 Binoculars show brighter image in the twilight due to lesser magnification and wider field of view. It's because the image brightness depends on binoculars magnification: the bigger the magnification the less light achieves observer's eye and the darker the image is. It also depends on the objective lens diameter, but these binoculars have equal apertures
