Levenhuk T510 NG Digital Camera is a wonderful way not only to observe the celestial sphere but also to take pictures along the way. A 5-Mpx camera allows you to capture very sharp, clear images of celestial objects in high resolution, and—even better—it may be used with a telescope of any brand or optical design. It is reliable and very easy to use, even if this is your first try at astrophotography.

To begin, just attach the camera to the focuser in place of the eyepiece and connect it to your PC via a USB cable (included in the kit). Now you can observe space in real time on your monitor and save the images on your hard drive. The USB connection also acts as a power supply. The camera is compatible with focusers of 1.25" in barrel diameter. Its field of view matches that of your telescope.

This camera may be connected to your PC via a USB 2.0 port (note that when plugged into a USB 1.0 or 1.1, the camera may operate incorrectly). The USB cable also acts as a power cable, so you do not have to worry about batteries or the power supply when it is plugged in. A number of user settings are available for camera operation, such as the white balance and exposure control. All images of celestial objects that you take will, therefore, always be sharp and clear. Included with the camera is a CD with Levenhuk ToupView software that allows you to edit images on your PC.

The latest version of Levenhuk ToupView for Windows (release date: 11/20/2013) supports eight languages: English, French, German, Polish, Russian, Simplified Chinese,Traditional Chinese, Turkish.

To ensure the best possible performance of your new camera, make sure your computer complies with the system requirements specified by the manufacturer. Compatible OS include Mac OS 10.6–10.10, Linux 2.6*, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7/8/10. A USB 2.0 port is required to establish a connection.

The kit includes:

  • Levenhuk telescope digital camera
  • Fixed telescope adapter
  • USB cable
  • Installation CD with Levenhuk ToupView image editing software and the required drivers
  • User manual and lifetime warranty

* Levenhuk Image Editor for Linux was compiled on Ubuntu 10.04 with kernel 2.6.32-50-generic-pae. If Image Editor still cannot run on your platform or the characters are garbled, contact us and provide your platform info and kernel version.

You should start with imaging bright objects. As one of the brightest celestial object, the Moon makes a perfect imaging target. After you learn the technique on the Moon, you can move forward to bright planets and even bright DSOs.

Jerry Smith (2013-03-04 08:08): Positive
Are Levenhuk T310 NG and Levenhuk T130 NG cameras more preferable for telescopes with low focal ratio, because they have higher sensitivity than Levenhuk T510 NG? For example for Levenhuk Strike 900 PRO telescope. Levenhuk Customer Service:
The sensitivity is an important criterion when choosing a camera, but it should be noted that the main indicator is the maximum resolution.

Jerry Smith (2013-03-04 06:36): Positive
Please explain what's a sensitivity measured in v / lux.sec @ 550 nm? Is it better when it's higher or lower? Levenhuk Customer Service:
It is a measure of sensitivity of the camera matrix to the amount of light entering the camera. High sensitivity is required when shooting under low light conditions.
