Recently we have bought a good german microscope for my son's birthday with good magnification, illumination and a camera, but the microscope kit did not include many accessories in it such as slides and samples to observe. A couple of days ago I was looking for hunting binoculars and accidently found this accessory section full of different microscope sets. I've decided to purchase the biggest one with 80 microscope slides. It contains human and animal tissues, plant particles, a bunch of other interesting things, and also clean slides and cover slips to make your own slides. The price is a little bit high in my opinion though... But it is really great, I think it's worth it. P.S. My son's interest won't fade away that quickly this time I guess. He really likes it.

I'm afraid a child can cut fingers with these glasses. Are they safe for children, how are the edges surfaced? I'm also a little unsure about the slides with blood and organs, is it possible to get some infection from it if you break the glass and cut yourself accidentaly?

The edges are polished and smooth without any shatters or cracks, no one can cut themselves. The specimens are dehydrated, no infection persists under such conditions, it's impossible to catch something through the dried blood. But of course all the specimens are carefully processed prior to slides preparing.

here's what I noticed: some slides are visible with a naked eye while it seems that there is nothing under the glass with others, but they become visible under the microscope. Is it supposed to be so?

Yes, that's exactly how it's supposed to be. Some of the specimens are so tiny so they can't be observed with the naked eye, but some of them are larger and are visible.
